Slavery, Abolition and Post-Emancipation in Contemporary British Literature

This Monday Lecture focuses on representations of slavery, abolition and post-emancipation in contemporary British literature and their historical and political contexts. The main texts that will feature in the lecture are the novels "Cambridge" by Caryl Phillips and "The Long Song" by Andrea Levy as well as the poems "The Sea is History" by Derek Walcott and "One Continent / To Another" by Grace Nichols.
Part of the lecture will be devoted to proper textual analysis with our guest speaker.
The lecture will be held in English. All are Welcome. Admission free.
